That's why today we are beginning a new series of videos to help you cut through all that climate jargon.

There's going to be plenty of it over the coming weeks too, as the UN's crucial climate conference COP28 is due to get under way in Dubai at the end of the month.

It follows a year of extreme weather events in which many climate records have been broken.

We all need to understand what is happening, so today we start our series with the word 'anthropogenic'.
