There has been a remarkable flowering of female writing in Northern Ireland over the last 20 years.
Much of this writing focuses on the endlessly interesting city of Belfast - watch an illuminating First Thought Talk from this year's Galway International Arts Festival above.
Three fine writers discuss their versions of Belfast: Lucy Caldwell, author of These Days, the story of two sisters living through the Belfast Blitz of 1941; Wendy Erskine, chronicler of complicated lives in East Belfast in Sweet Home and Dance Move; and Rosemary Jenkinson, author of the recently-staged Silent Trade, a play about modern trafficking of women to Belfast.
The event was moderated by Jessica Traynor, acclaimed poet and Writer in Residence at University of Galway.
